Every now and then, there is a local group that I get giddy about. I think (I'm actually 100% sure) that the text I sent to one of my fellow talent advisory committee members was, "They are so good I want to cry." We are talking about Denver breakout band Calder's Revolvers. The rock and roll/soul/ R&B group is a mash up of some of my very favorite Colorado musicians; half of the defunct ska band Action Shot, members from the Archive, Dendrites, and Allout Helter. Combining groovy bass lines, soulful vocals, and ripping horn riffs, they put out an incredibly large sound that gets you moving. Their 2013 debut album won statewide awards including "Best New Album" in Denver's Westword. They dropped their follow up last month and it's incredible. Do yourself a favor and make sure to catch Calder's Revolvers at Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest on Saturday August 16th. They'll be on Mountain Ave at 2:20 PM.
