TBT - Flobots

For this week's Throwback Thursday performance, I picked the Flobots.  You may not be aware, but the band first graced the Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest stages in 2007.  They played an early slot on Mountain Ave to 75 ish people.  It was about 8 months before Handlebars blew up on radio stations across the country. The crowd that showed up were treated to an exceptional performance full of high energy and stage antics complete with the band's signature blend of hip hop, rock, and funk.  If you weren't a Flobots fan when you walked up, you most certainly left as one.  They wowed the audience and gave us all a glimpse of what was to come.

Fast forward to 2010.  Just back from a international tour, the Flobots returned to Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest as our Friday night headliners.  This show was quite a bit different as audiences packed Linden St Stage and flooded Old Town for a chance to see a glimpse of Colorado's newest rock stars. Once again, they delivered an exuberant set as they fed off of the crowd's energy.  Most people will remember this performance as I'm guessing a majority of Fort Collins showed up to support the group.  That's one of the reasons I picked the Flobots as this week's #TBT.  Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest is a celebration of the Colorado music scene.  It's a place to discover all of the talent that lies in your own backyard.  It's a chance to see the next big breakout artist.  It really is a magical weekend of appreciating your local music scene.  I'm posting the video for Handlebars below so you can nod your head and sing out loud at work today.  And just to make this throwback even more retro, I included the band's MySpace link... I hear it's making a comeback.
