Local honky tonk favorites, Halden Wofford and the Hi*Beams just had one amazing weekend. On Saturday they traveled North to play at the Cheyenne Frontier Days and were complimented by a very high profile fan, Governor Hickenlooper.
Our Colorado Governor has been extremely vocal in the last year about his support of the local music scene (read THIS), so it's really cool to see him out and about at shows.
On Sunday, the group followed in the Colorado tradition of bands and beers by releasing their popular collaboration with Oskar Blues Brewery, Hi*Beams Honky Tonk Ale in a can (it was available on draft last summer).
We're super excited to welcome Halden Wofford and the Hi*Beams back to the stage for this year's Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest. You can see them Saturday August 16th on Linden St at 5:30 PM. I'm sure you can probably guess what they sound like based off of the name of their beer, but if you need a better description let me just leave you with this: one of the most musically inclined, yet ruckus reckoning old timey sounding but deceptively young fellows rocking the old school honky tonk in the Rocky Mountains. Yes, you want to see this show and be sure to wear your most comfortable cowboy boots so you can dance in style.
Here is a video of them playing by request Mama Tried at Governor Hickenlooper's inauguration.
